Busted

This past weekend I went down to Little Rock to cover the 3A high school state football championship and managed to get what could be my favorite football photo of the year. As you can see above the quarterback has obviously fumbled the ball while being sacked, which was picked up and ran back for a defensive touchdown. But the referee said the quarterback was already down when he fumbled the ball and called the touchdown back. This is one of the coolest things about being a photgrapher: you always have instant replay. But of course my paper never ran the photo.

if the saints would have lost by a touchdown this photo would have mattered but since they won by like a gigzillion points who cares how it was call.

because it sets a precedent when you allow certain actions that may become important in the future; plus it adds accountability. but i already understand quality just isn't important to some people.

It matters because a 17 year old had dreamed all his life about playing in a state championship game. His ultimate dream was to score a touchdown in that game or at least make a sensational play. Because of this photograph, Brandon has had his dream come true even if it wasn't recognized by the whole world. Thanks Aaron! My son and I will forever cherish your photograph validating his moment of glory. Bryan McBryde
